Frequently Asked Questions About Videos
|
What are the system requirements for videos on this site?
- To watch the videos you will need a high speed Internet connection (at
least cable or DSL). Dial up connections will not work since the videos are about 45 minutes long.
- Flash Player 8 or above. You can download the Flash player from the Adobe website.
- We recommend that you
try watch the test video before you buy. If you are unable to view the test video, you may purchase sessions on DVD for home viewing.

Why am I having trouble viewing the test video? Any suggestions?
The sessions are Flash Video files that are streamed from
high-bandwidth Flash Video servers located in the United States. If you
live in the United States and have a high-bandwidth connection, these
video files usually stream smoothly with few pauses. However, there are
three common circumstances where people with high-bandwidth connections
may encounter problems:
- First, there may be times when bandwidth is constricted due to high
volume Internet activity that may result in pauses as the video stream
is buffering. Most common periods when this happens are mornings and
early evenings. If this problem occurs during a session, end your
session and try again at a later time when the Internet activity is
lower. If the problem persists, you may need to run an online speed
test to determine if your true Internet connection speed is above 512
kbps.
- Satellite Internet users may also experience frequent delays and
buffering due to the high latency of satellite signals. High-speed
satellite Internet technology works well for general file transfer and
Internet browsing, but does not maintain the stable integrity of
bandwidth necessary for continuous streaming of long digital videos.
Again, we recommend cable Internet and T-1 technology as the best
options for continuous and reliable streaming.
- If you have a high-speed Internet connection but live outside the
continental United States, you may experience frequent pauses as the
video is buffering. This is due to the physical distance between your
computer and the server that hosts the videos. Unfortunately, there is
nothing we can do to help you watch the videos online. Your best bet is
to purchase a Men's Fraternity DVD. Please call us at 501.975.5050 for
more information.
If the video you purchased stops, times out or is otherwise not viewable, follow these steps:
- Clear your browser's cache (based on your current browser, see below), reboot your computer, and then try to watch the video.
- If you're still having trouble viewing the video, update your version of Adobe Flash (see below).
- If you're still having trouble viewing the video, please consider using a different computer (if you have access to one) or purchasing the DVD. While we welcome feedback related to your experience with the site (either by phone at 501.975.5050 or via e-mail), we are unable to provide one-on-one technical support for problems related to your computer or Internet connection.

I've read the Video FAQ and followed the suggestions, but I still cannot get the test video to play on my computer. What are my other options?
If you are unable to view the test video, you will not be able to view
the online sessions. This is most likely because you do not have a
high-speed connection to the Internet or the appropriate software on
your computer (Flash Player 8 or above). You can watch a session by
ordering a DVD. Please contact Lenee' Gipson at 501.975.5050 to place
your order.

I'm having problems watching the video with Microsoft Vista and Internet Explorer. Can you help?
There is a bug in the Flash player for Microsoft Vista. At this time, the following steps must be followed to fix this problem.
- Close any Internet Explorer windows you have open by clicking the X in the corner of each window. All Internet Explorer windows must be closed before you continue.
- On your keyboard, press and hold the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt) and press the E key. This will open Windows Explorer.
- At the top of this window, you'll see a textbox with the word "Computer". Inside this textbox, left-click anywhere to the right of the word "Computer". You should now be able to type inside this textbox.
- Press the Backspace key until the textbox is blank.
- Once the textbox is blank, type in the following: c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash
- Press the Enter key.
- You should see a list of files inside the Flash folder below. Look for a file that starts with "FlashUtil9". You may see more than one. Each file has a letter next to it (e.g. FlashUtil9b, FlashUtil9c).
- Find the file that has the furthest letter in the alphabet (i.e. if you have FlashUtil9b and FlashUtil9c, the one you want to use is FlashUtil9c).
- Double-click the appropriate file using the left mouse button. A screen will appear telling you that it is updating Flash. Once it is complete, your Flash should be updated and you should now be able to view videos on the MensFraternity.com website.
